About Acme
In the late 1970s Steve Sullivan was a busboy at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, baking bread in his student kitchen. Alice Waters asked him to bake for the restaurant, and in 1983 he and his wife Suzie opened The Acme Bread Company.
More than forty years later Acme still bakes with organic flour, and its bakery in San Francisco's Ferry Building bakes fresh loaves through the day.
